JOY!

Inspired by the idea of black joy, we feel that this is a moment in time where there are many obstacles to overcome but also many opportunities for celebration. The collective explores the idea of black joy through storytelling and art that confronts our relationship with race and the realities of life in our contemporary lives

Our ideas were born out of a desire to learn more about black history in culturally significant locations all over the African diaspora. From our research, we create art installations that take you on a visual journey through these stories. Black Women's Road Trip Collective is a project where diverse women create art from stories of their own journeys. Their aim is to create an atmosphere for dialogue, healing and community building through the beauty found in individual narratives as told by artists within this distinct African American tradition.
